EIV Income Validation Tool (IVT)

Description
Learn How to Generate, Read, Analyze, and Apply IVT Reports

HUD developed the Income Validation Tool (IVT) in response to an OIG audit that found a large volume of false positives in the EIV Income Discrepancy Report. Therefore, use of the IVT became mandatory in 2018 and replaced the Income Discrepancy Report. PHAs can search the IVT Report for more detailed income information for the head of household and individual household members.

This course will improve your ability to quickly identify unreported or under-reported income during annual and interim reexaminations. You will also learn how to drill-down through the three sections of the IVT report to view reports for the:
• Head of Household
• Household Members
• Employment Income and History

Instructions will be provided for reading and analyzing each field on the reports. Guidance will be provided for taking corrective actions where needed.

Topics discussed:

  • What is the IVT Report and Its Benefits for the PHA

  • Features of the IVT Report

  • Reading and Analysis of IVT Report Screens

  • Finding and Correcting Discrepancies

  • PHA Compliance with the IVT Report
