This course provides a foundation for determining and documenting eligibility (and ineligibility) for applicant households. Attendees will receive a comprehensive understanding of the HCVP eligibility determination and processing requirements as outlined in the Code of Federal Regulations and Chapter I of the NEW HUD Housing Choice Voucher Program Guidebook released in November 2019.
Find out what you can and cannot ask, and what you should and should not consider in implementing local screening options. Procedures for verifying eligibility, along with practices to avoid, are interspersed throughout the class. Participants will also learn what must be included when notifying applicants of their eligibility or denial of application. Interview Guides will be provided to assist those new to the eligibility interview process.
This course is great for: Case Workers, Occupancy Specialists, HCVP Supervisors, Waiting List Management Staff, and Hearing Officers!
